AMA Completes it's Second (2nd) Final Community Consultative Workshop on Street Naming

The 2nd and final phase of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly community Consultation workshop was concluded on Friday, after a challenging and a successful 1st phase where opinion leaders including Chief’s , Queen mothers and Assembly members within the various communities in the sub metro helped with naming and concepts  for the streets names,

During the final phase, all names and concepts given to the Street naming technical team during the 1st consultative workshop were digitized (computed using the mapping software) into the various community street mapping layers, the maps were then cartographically worked on into a paper map on A0 sheet and deposited at the sub metro of the involved communities for two (2) weeks

An announcement was made through the media (via radio and print) throughout the communities about the deposition of the proposed street names, this was to give the public and the members of the community the chance to have a look at where the proposed names and concepts were used on the maps so they can have final amendments, suggestion and also help in the correction and spellings of most of the street names..

The technical Officer of the street naming project Ms Ernestina Clottey urge Opinion leaders and members of the community to help educate their community on the constant usage of the street names when the signage’s are mounted to help in the familiarization of the names.
