Background Information

In 1999, the Government of Ghana launched the National Land Policy. The Policy outlined long term land administration reform processes with the aim of stimulating economic development, reduce poverty and promote social stability. The Land Administration Project (LAP-1) was initiated in 2003 to implement the Policy. LAP-1 laid the foundation for sustainable decentralized land administration system that is fair, efficient, cost effective and ensures land tenure security. LAP-1 ended in 2011 and LAP-2 commenced in the same year.
