Level of expertise required for this Chapter: Intermediate; general Map Maker training

If you have a ‘doughnut’ polygon, i.e. a ring-shaped polygon with an empty area inside, but want to fill it to make it a homogenous area.

Having the layer in the live layer > Select polygon > Edit > Show Selection Manager > Selection Manager window: Action > Polygon manipulation > Dis-aggregate nested polygons

You now have two polygons overlapping each other.

Delete the inner polygon by:
Select inside the inner polygon (you now have selected the inner and the whole polygon) > Subtract the whole polygon by holding the shift key and selecting the outer area > Delete (at the keyboard)
