7.5.5 Technical Notes For Structure Plan

Level of expertise required for this Chapter: Advanced; specifically for LUPMIS @ TCPD

Problems might occur, when performing some of the above described procedures, due to:

  • Memory limitations of your computer

  • Complexity of procedures

  • Unclean topology of features

  • And other technical problems

A) Make frequent backups, or after each major change, or every 15 minutes: Copy it to a new version (e.g. Kasoa_structure_temp01, then Kasoa_structure_temp02 etc).
From live layer mode: right-mouse > Save live layer as > Enter new temporary file name, (see examples above) > Save

B) If a polygon disappears, when cutting, you better copy this one polygon to the memory, cut it separately and then copy it back to your layer.
In live layer mode: Select the polygon > Main menu > Edit > Copy > Edit > Clear live layer > Edit > Paste > Cut it or perform the sensitive procedure > Select all processed polygons > Main menu > Edit > Copy > Clear live layer > Main menu > Edit > Load file into live layer > Select folder and previous file > OK > Select the polygon, which has been processed separately > Delete > Main menu > Edit > Paste

C) You might have to use the Snap-tool from the toolbar left very often, try always with as short distance as possible. If through snapping some overlapping triangles appear, they have to be ‘cleaned’ by editing all adjacent polygons.

D) The tool of Flood-fill polygon (through
right-mouse > Drawing > Flood-fill polygon) can be useful.

Have a close look at the boundary of this new unit. It might be necessary to snap it to the adjacent units.
